Merritt Memories

 I ate lunch with my mom and Robyn today. We met half way to exchange gifts. Amazon is great, but I will never pass up an opportunity to see family! Me and my girls drove and met them in Fillmore.  When we got back, Dustin and I decided to take the family to The Historic Clarke Family Farm in Grantsville. Every year they do a live nativity scene. They have a lighted path that you travel to reach the Baby Jesus too. 

  I wish I had a picture. But when you're awaken at 3 am, your mind isn't super clear. And honest, taking a picture might have just ruined the moment. But I want to remeber this always... Britten has nightmares. This time, a vampire was sucking the blood out of his foot. He climbed in bed with me. All was well. I fell back asleep. A little while later, I woke with a startle, like I needed to be somewhere. I looked over and saw my 6 year-old sitting up. I called his name, and asked what he was doing. I thought he was starting to sleep walk. "He wispered to me, "Mom, I'm praying."  I let him finish. Then, he told me he hadn't been able to go back to bed. His foot hurt from the vampire, and he was scared. I cuddled him and we sang songs until he was calm and comfortable. I soon heard snoring. I had so many thoughts and feelings running theough my mind and heart.  I focus on this aspect today. How grateful and humbled I am that I could help answer a little bo...

 I was challenged to share light in this world. I wanted to write about people who do bring light into this world and make a difference.  My sister, Robyn, is an example of Christlike service to me. When she asks how you're doing, she REALLY wants to know how you're doing. She'll remember your birthday, and you'll receive a small handmade gift in the mail. It will be in your favorite color because she'll remeber that too. She has served in the Nursery of many different church congregations for 23 years. you might think there were breaks in there, but not really. Nursery. Kids under 3. 23 years! She deserves a medal. If you need a friend, she'll be your friend. You need a hug? She'll give you a hug. You nned helo taking your mind off something? She'll galdly sit and visit with you. She's always on an errand to help! My parents are true light givers! There is no one greater in my mind. I'm reminded daily of the upbringing I had. I am SO grateful fo...

 It's the start of the Christmas season for us. We put our tree up. Britten was having fun putting decorations on. He jumbled at least 7 all together. There are some things in our home that mean a lot. The book my mom gave 1 month after my dad passes away, and the nativity we inherited after Dustn's maternal grandparents passed away. His grandpa made them. His grandma painted them. His grandpa also made the gingerbread men on our tree. At times, I think it's time for an update. i don't think I ever could. We'll have gingerbread men forever! We played Charades and Hangman. Sometimes when playing with a 1st grader, you need to spell like a 1st grader...lol!

 We had a lovely Thanksgiving.  We had Grandma and Granpa Merritt, and Shandi and Jaren and family over for a feast! We stuffed ur bellies on thei wintery, fall day. We got so much snow!! I beleive it's about 14''!!

 23 years today! Britten wanted to know what an anniversary was. I tried to explain it was like a birthday for the day you were married. I told him our marriage was 23 years old. When I said it like that, i realized we are still babies in this marriage department. I'm so grateful we have spent the last 23 years learning and growing together. We've gained experience, 6 kids, and a daughter-in-law. I/m excited for what's in store! 

 Grace was able to go to Chick Pick (girl's choice) with a group of friends. She had arough year last year and had to find new friends. I'm so grateful this group has taken her in!
